Tallship Pommern
Visit the museum in this one of its kind 4-mast sailing vessel
Pommern is the only sailing vessel in the world that is preserved in its original condition. She was originally
built by a German shipping company in Glasgow, Scotland and launched in 1903. In 1923 Gustaf Erikson bought this
ship who owned the largest sailing ship fleet by doing so. Pommern sailed until the outbreak of World War II and
was mainly used to transport wheat between Australia, Ireland and England. Since 1957 Pommern has been home in
the western harbour of Mariehamn and represents a proud era in the sailing- and past history of Åland. Pommern
is also available for private events outside opening hours.
