Pommern is the only sailing vessel in the world that is preserved in its original condition.
She was originally built by a German shipping company in Glasgow, Scotland and launched in 1903. In 1923 Gustaf Erikson bought this ship who owned the largest sailing ship fleet by doing so.
Pommern sailed until the outbreak of World War II and was mainly used to transport wheat between Australia, Ireland and England.
Since 1957 Pommern has been home in the western harbour of Mariehamn and represents a proud era in the sailing- and past history of Åland.
Pommern is also available for private events outside opening hours.

You will have the opportunity to experience some of the most fascinating sights that make the Kökar islands so beautiful.
From Alviksböte you will enjoy a panoramic view over the north-west of Kökar, at Grönvik the path leads down to the seashore and a natural harbour with beautiful smooth polished rocks, Kökar highest point Tellmossberget (34 meters above sea level), stone labyrinth from unknown times, a unique settlement site, where seal hunters lived in the early Bronze age at Otterböte and a beautifull view over parts of lake Oppsjön and Karlby.
Other places of interest include the Monks workshop at Värvan, coast-guard station, the largest of the mosses and swamps on Kallen, Vaktanböte, which is a sentry-post and meant as a part of the medieval defence system and Karlby.

Icelandic horses originate from Scandinavian countries and were brought to Iceland by the Viking settlers, making for an interesting experience. Thus their relative small size these horses are able to carry the weight of a large grown adult. The main distinguishing feature however is that the Icelandic horse can perform five distinct gaits including the tölt and the flying pace.
Due to the location of the stable you can enjoy fascinating excursions to the castle in Kastelholm and the historical fortress of Bomarsund and enjoy a picnic break during your excursion.

The newly build Alandica Kultur och Kongress was inaugurated in March 2009 invites with a fantastic architecture that rests on the unique archipelago landscape. Alandica is airy and harmonious in style and consists of three island-like buildings joined together by a glass-partitioned lobby. The main auditorium has 600 seats and the smaller auditorium with 200 seats. Alandica offers also seven meeting and teamwork rooms. The spacious and light lobby is a place for encounters and enjoying refreshments.

Afternoon for activities and alternatives
The afternoon permits time for activities or just some free time in Mariehamn. A complete close-up and farewell dinner is offered in the classic and sober restaurant Nautical in the western harbour just a five minutes stroll to the ferry terminal.
